Painting, Holbeck by artist Paul Harris. The painting is part of a series (TH.0022-TH.0030) commissioned by Barrow Borough Council to commemorate the centenary of the Town Hall in 1987. Paul Harris (1949 â€“ 1991) was born in Manchester and grew up near one of the biggest locomotive sheds in the country at Patricroft. He was well known for his paintings connected with railways and was a leading member of the Guild of Railway Artists. He moved to Furness in the 1970s and worked as a graphic designer for Vickers Offshore Developments. Many of his paintings were published in books and as prints and he did commercial work for local and multinational companies as well as private commissions.
