1. When images are reproduced or exhibited in any format written permission must first be sought from Barrow Museum Service and proper acknowledgement given. Barrow Museum Service must still be credited. Copy of Barrow Museum Service copyright photographs obtained from another source is not permitted. Infringement of copyright / reproduction terms will be pursued.
2. Images must not be altered, defaced or manipulated without written permission from Barrow Museum Service.
3. When images are published (by means of any medium) a copy of the publication must be forwarded, free of charge, to Barrow Museum Service.
4. The granting of permission to reproduce an image from any Barrow Museum Service collection does not confer exclusive rights to that image nor does it transfer copyright.
5. When images are used in digital format (e.g. CD-Rom, DVD or the internet) they will be supplied at a low resolution. They must not be available for printing at a high resolution.
6. When images are reproduced acknowledgements must be given to 'Barrow Museum Service'. The catalogue number must be quoted for future reference if an image is published in a book or magazine.
7. Barrow Museum Service cannot give rights for use of images in perpetuity. A ten year maximum can be agreed when images are supplied (only 5 for internet use) but only for the use stated at the time of supply in the written agreement.
8. A discount of 50% from reproduction rights may be offered if an application is made in writing to Collections Manager. This only applies when usage is strictly for educational purposes i.e. when strictly for nonprofit making purposes. A copy of the publication (all media) must be forwarded to Barrow Museum Service free of charge.
